This evening itinerary is designed for those who want to experience the romance of the Nile and the grandeur of the Pharaohs without the heat or the walking of a full day tour. It seamlessly blends a peaceful sunset sail with the dramatic storytelling of the Karnak Sound and Light show.
Late Afternoon: Sailing into the Sunset Your evening begins with a pickup from your hotel, transferring you to the Nile corniche where your private Felucca awaits. As the crew unfurls the sail, you will drift north towards Karnak. This is the most peaceful time of day; the wind cools down, and the sky transforms into a canvas of oranges and purples behind the West Bank mountains. It is the perfect moment to relax and breathe in the timeless atmosphere of the river.
Evening: Dinner & The Show After docking, we take you to a nearby restaurant for an early dinner, enjoying local or international cuisine with views over the water. Once you have finished, we head to the gates of Karnak Temple for the Sound and Light Show. The experience begins with a walk through the complex, where spotlights dramatically illuminate statues and obelisks one by one, accompanied by music and narration. The evening concludes at the Sacred Lake, where you sit in the grand amphitheater to watch the final act of the show reflect shimmering lights upon the water.
Q: Is the Sound and Light Show available in English every night? A: Yes, there is usually at least one English show nightly. However, timings change by season, so we will adjust your pickup time to match the English slot.
Q: Is it cold on the water at night? A: In winter (December–February), it can get quite chilly on the boat and during the open-air show. We recommend bringing a light jacket.
